Like with the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows, I also have several of the Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil. These can be found both in the US and in Germany in shops where Essence is sold, which is pretty much anywhere you can find makeup in Germany, but I think only Ulta in the US (let me know if you can find it elsewhere!). According to their website, only three of the six colors I have are available in the US! Hot Chocolate, Black Fever, and Berry Merry. They also only have six colors available in total in the US, while Germany has 12 colors. Germany definitely wins this battle. Now on to my colors!
A brief warning about these guys, they are very soft. This is great if you want a smokey look or a pop of color on the lower lash line, but not so great for precise wings. Also, if you wear contacts, there might be transfer onto your lenses if you put these in the water line, especially with the darker colors. I would suggest trying them out when you know you’ll be at home for awhile, so you can clean off your lenses if needed and see how it wears on you.
The shades I wear the most are Ms Moneypenny, C’est la Vie!, and Berry Merry. In the summer, when it is extra hot, I will often forgo eyeshadow all together and put Ms Moneypenny or C’est la Vie! just on my upper lash line. They set well, so I don’t have to worry about smudging, and they don’t run the risk of creasing the same way an all over eye-color would (unless, of course, you’ve got those Maybelline Color Tattoos!). They brighten my eyes, and the warm gold of Ms Moneypenny looks great with my eyecolor (blue/green). I like Berry Merry more in the cooler months and I have actually almost used up the entire pencil. I had to twist it up all the way to swatch it, and I need to go buy a new one! They’re under 3€, if I can remember correctly, so definitely a steal.
The shades I wear the least are Lucky Lead, Black Fever, and Hot Chocolate. I’m just so fair that the darker shades can look very harsh on me, even smudged out. Lucky Lead might get more use when it gets cooler out, but right now I just feel it is too heavy. Also, like I said before, the darker shades in particular seem to get on my contacts a lot, so that is a definite downside. I do still wear them when I want a more dramatic look, but I don’t reach for them daily like the lighter colors.
Are there any other shades you think I should try out? Or perhaps another brand entirely that has a similar product?
